Amman, Jordan, the city where I was born on March 7, 1949. This is how it looks like today.
The beautiful city of Amman is expanding fast.
Close to downtown Amman, you can see the beautiful Roman Amphitheater. It is still being used for special occations. (No gladiators)
We moved to Ajloun,Jordan where I grew up. My father ,with the help of the American Baptist missionaries, around 1953 established the very first Baptist Church in Ajloun, Jordan.
In 1960 my father was the first to translate the hymn "How Great Thou Art" to the Arabic language.
The beautiful ancient castle of Ajloun, sitting on the top of a mountain, was a common sight any time you look west. It is a popular tourist attraction .
The ancient city of Petra. You have to ride a horse or walk for a good 20 min. between two high walls of stone before you reach this beautiful structure carved in stone.
This was a popular school trip in my days. It takes a whole day to tour the city. The whole city was carved out of the stone walls. This structure was featured in the last Indiana Jones movie.
